
Mission: The nuclear research centre of Birine is responsible for developing and implementing the scientific and technical research programs required for the development of reactor physics and technologies, nuclear facility instrumentation and control, radioisotope production techniques and processes, neutron applications, nuclear safety and the environment, and radioactive waste management and processing. It is also responsible for ensuring the safe operation of existing nuclear facilities. In addition, the center participates in the training of technicians, engineers and researchers in the center’s specific fields of activity, as well as in the training of nuclear reactor operators, in accordance with the terms and conditions laid down by current regulations.
Infrastructure & Equipment: Includes Es-Salam Reactor, Hot Cells, High-Pressure and High-Temperature Loops, Radioactive Waste Storage Facilities, Neutron Activation Analysis Laboratory, Neutronography and Tomography Facilities, Neutron Diffractometer, AURES 1 Sub-Critical Assembly, and Research and Development Laboratories.
