Launch of the first postgraduate training program in radiopharmacy (academic year 2025-2026): First national professional master’s program in partnership between IAGN-COMENA and the Faculty of Pharmacy-University of Health Sciences of Algiers.

As part of the implementation of the roadmap developed by the intersectoral working group (GTI) tasked with “developing a roadmap containing concrete proposals capable of meeting the needs of the health and pharmaceutical sectors, particularly in the fields of radiotherapy and nuclear medicine,” close coordination of activities was carried out by the Atomic Energy Commission (COMENA) with the University of Health Sciences  in Algiers and the Algerian Institute for Training in Nuclear Engineering (IAGN/COMENA) and the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Health Sciences  in Algiers, resulting in the joint development  of the first national educational program for a master’s degree in radiopharmacy, in line with the harmonized international program adopted by AFRA-IAEA.

This new potential for skills is intended to complement and strengthen the effective and safe practice of nuclear medicine, which is currently booming in the national public and private sectors.

Decree No. 786 of August 31, 2025, authorizing higher education institutions to provide, in conjunction with their partners, training courses leading to the award of a master’s degree in radiopharmacy for the 2025-2026 academic year, has been published.  The joint educational training committee, responsible for supervising the first semester, held its first meeting on Wednesday, September 17, 2025.
