Dr Abdelhamid MELLAH, senior expert researcher (research director), is an engineer in refining-petrochemicals from the national institute of hydrocarbons and chemistry of Boumerdès (June 1984), magister in nuclear engineering from the high commission for research, Algiers (July 1987), Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the Ferhat Abbas university of Sétif (December 2007) and holder of an advanced certificate in business management from the higher institute of management and planification  Bordj El Kifan, Algiers (July 2015). He held several positions of responsibility at the atomic energy commission (COMENA) before being appointed, by Presidential decree, atomic energy commissioner (September 2019). He has extensive experience in the field of nuclear engineering of more than forty years. He has several national and international publications and communications. He served as president of AFRA (IAEA) from September 2023 to September 2024. In 2024, he was named by Stanford University (USA) among the TOP 2% of the best scientists and most cited researchers in the world.
