NATIONAL COOPERATION

Water resources sector

With regard to the development of national capacities in the field of water resources, the National Water Plan gives high priority to the integrated assessment of resources, the protection of groundwater, the use of isotope techniques for the management of shared aquifers, and the safety and durability of dams; while the sustainable securing of drinking water is based on an effort to mobilize conventional and non-conventional water.

Cooperation between COMENA and the water sector is focused on the use of isotope hydrology techniques to improve knowledge of aquifer properties (groundwater origin, recharge rate, vulnerability to pollution, interconnection of water sources, etc.); the development of national databases and the detection of dam leaks.
