OVERVIEW

Missions: Charting the Path of Nuclear Excellence

The Commission is responsible for designing and implementing the national policy for the promotion and development of nuclear energy and techniques.

Missions :

    1. to study and propose the elements of a national strategy in the field of atomic energy, in accordance with the guidelines, priorities and decisions laid down by the supervisory authority;
    2. to study and define the implementation strategy, methods and resources required to foster the development of nuclear science and technology, and to promote the use of atomic energy and its applications in all sectors, particularly in the fields of science, energy, industry, health, agriculture, hydraulics, public works, regional planning and the environment;
    3. draw up and implement plans and programs, and monitor and evaluate them;
    4. ensure, in liaison with public contractors, the project management of any nuclear energy system, in particular the production of electrical energy and the desalination of water;
    5. to contribute to any action aimed at stimulating and promoting prospecting, exploration, exploitation, treatment, processing, upgrading, management and storage of nuclear raw materials and materials;
    6. to promote the technological development needed to perfect devices, equipment, components and products, and to develop their applications;
    7. to carry out research and development programs in the field of atomic energy, through its own structures and those associated with it, in liaison with the sectors concerned, to monitor and control their execution, and to ensure their evaluation and valorization;
    8. to contribute to the development of nuclear technology applications within entities belonging to other national institutions and organizations;
    9. to contribute, in liaison with the relevant bodies, to the development of technical safety and security standards relating to its field of activity, as well as general technical standards for nuclear, physical and radiological safety, concerning nuclear and radiological installations and radioactive waste management facilities;
    10. participate, with the sectors concerned, in the drafting of any legislative or regulatory text relating to its field of activity;
    11. propose appropriate regulatory measures and resources to promote national researchers and experts in the field of nuclear energy;
    12. to ensure, in liaison with the sectors concerned, the training, retraining and further training of the personnel required to carry out its missions, in particular within the structures attached to it;
    13. ensure the collection, conservation and dissemination of scientific and technical information and any other information relating to the field of atomic energy, in accordance with the regulations in force;
    14. draw up and ensure, in liaison with the structures concerned, the implementation and follow-up of bilateral and multilateral cooperation programs and actions in its field of activity;
    15. to ensure, in liaison with the institutions concerned, the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of commitments arising from the State’s obligations under regional and international agreements relating to its field of activity”.
