
On Thursday 26 March 2026, Dr Abdelhamid MELLAH, Atomic Energy Commissioner, presided over the closing ceremony of the 7th edition of the postgraduate educational course in radiation protection and the safety of radiation sources (PGEC), organised jointly by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the Algerian Government, through the Nuclear Research Centre of Algiers of the Atomic Energy Commission (CRNA/COMENA). The ceremony took place in the presence of the IAEA Technical Officer, Ms Elisabeth Louise Grindrod, the President of the National Nuclear Safety and Security Authority, Mr Rachedi MENADI, as well as officials from the Civil Protection, COMENA, CRNA and the course instructors.
The seventh edition of the postgraduate educational course on radiation protection and the safety of radiation sources (PGEC), organised by the Nuclear Research Centre of Algiers in its capacity as the designated regional centre since 2012, from 5 October 2025 to 26 March 2026, brought together twenty-four (24) participants from twelve (12) African countries: Algeria, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Gabon, the Comoros, Madagascar, Mauritania, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Chad and Togo.
