Mr. Mourad ADJAL, Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, officially opened, on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at the Nuclear Research Center of Algiers, the seminar on non-electrical applications of nuclear energy, organized jointly by the Atomic Energy Commission (COMENA) and the Russian State Nuclear Energy Corporation (ROSATOM).
The event was in presence of the Atomic Energy Commissioner, Mr. Abdelhamid MELLAH, the president of the National Nuclear Safety and Security Authority, Mr. Rachedi MENNADI, officials and executives from the Ministry of Energy and Renewable Energies, members of the COMENA board of directors, officials and executives from national institutions, COMENA officials and executives, and Russian officials and experts from ROSATOM.
The seminar will focus on non-electrical applications of nuclear energy, particularly in the fields of healthcare and seawater desalination.
This event is an opportunity to learn about the latest advances made by ROSATOM, a global leader in the nuclear industry, including solutions in the field of radiopharmaceuticals used in nuclear medicine and cancer treatment, the radio-sterilization of medical devices, and the deployment of small modular nuclear reactors (SMRs) and their use for seawater desalination.
