On Monday, October 20, 2025, the Atomic Energy Commissioner, with the officials of the Draria Nuclear Research Centre, received Mr. Rafael Mariano Grossi, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), as part of an official visit.
The visit began with a general presentation outlining the history and development of the NUR nuclear research reactor, followed by a technical tour of the reactor hall.
During the tour, detailed technical explanations were provided, along with information on the reactor’s numerous applications, particularly in the fields of scientific research and training. Emphasis was placed on the continuous efforts made by the reactor’s operational team to ensure the facility’s optimal performance, in strict compliance with international safety standards.
The visit concluded in a positive atmosphere, marked by the sustained interest of the IAEA Director General and a shared commitment to strengthen cooperation in the peaceful uses of nuclear energy for socio-economic development.
