Participation of the Atomic Energy Commission in the 2nd Ministerial Meeting of the World Fusion Energy Group (WFEG), Chengdu, China – October 14, 2025

The Atomic Energy Commission (COMENA) took part, as part of the Algerian delegation, in the 2nd Ministerial Meeting of the World Fusion Energy Group (WFEG), held on October 14, 2025, in Chengdu, on the sidelines of the 30th International Conference on Fusion Energy of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

The Algerian delegation was led by Mr. Lakhdar BOUZIDI, representative of the Minister of Energy and Renewable Energy, accompanied by Mr. Mostapha AIT IFTENE, Director of studies at COMENA.

This high-level meeting, organized under the auspices of the IAEA and hosted by the People’s Republic of China, brought together ministers and senior officials from more than sixty (60) member countries, as well as key scientific and industrial players involved in the development of fusion energy. It provided an opportunity to take stock of the remarkable progress made in this field, including the implementation of experimental projects and international programs aimed at making fusion a safe, clean, and sustainable source of energy.
