Under the patronage of the Minister of State, Minister of Energy, Mines and Renewable Energies, and the Minister of Health, the Atomic Energy Commission (COMENA), in conjunction with the Algerian Association of Nuclear Medicine (AAMN) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), organized the Algiers International Conference on Nuclear Medicine (AICONM24) on December 13 and 14, 2024.
The event brought together a large community of professionals from a variety of fields, including nuclear physicians, researchers, medical physicists, radiopharmacists, cardiologists and manipulators.
Discussions covered cutting-edge topics in nuclear medicine, such as radiation protection and positron emission tomography (PET), nuclear cardiology, theranostics, radiopharmacy, as well as artificial intelligence in these fields. These themes enabled enriching exchanges on technological advances and new therapeutic approaches.
This year saw the launch of the Dr. SEBAI and Khelouf Awards, in honor of the late Dr. SEBAI and Mr. Khelouf.
The participation of the Atomic Energy Commission (COMENA) in this event highlights its key role in the development and management of nuclear energy programs nationwide. It also illustrates its commitment to promoting closer collaboration with all those involved in the use of nuclear energy. Such cooperation is essential to ensure the safe, efficient and sustainable use of nuclear energy, particularly in strategic areas such as nuclear medicine.
